Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has announced Rs 8.5 crore to aid India’s contingent headed to the Paris Olympics. The Summer Games begin on July 26 with the opening ceremony.

In a social media post, Shah said, “I am proud to announce that the @BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing #India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. We are providing INR 8.5 Crores to the IOA for the campaign.”

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, later thanked the BCCI for the support.
“I thank @BCCI for their strong support of our Indian contingent at #ParisOlympics2024. We are proud of every athlete representing our nation. May they shine brightly! The entire nation is cheering for our athletes. #Cheer4Bharat,” said Dr Mandaviya through his ‘X’ account.
— Dr Mansukh Mandaviya (@mansukhmandviya) July 21, 2024India are sending 117 athletes to the Paris Games. This will be India’s second-biggest contingent at an Olympics after 121 athletes travelled to Tokyo in 2021. A total of 47 female and 70 male athletes will be part of the Indian contingent.
Beyond the 117 athletes, 67 coaches and 72 other support staff members will travel with the contingent to the Paris Olympics.
Track and field has the most athletes in the Indian contingent with 29 members while shooters take up the second spot with 21 athletes.
At the other end of the spectrum, equestrian, weightlifting, judo and rowing have one athlete each.
India will be looking to improve on their showing from Tokyo Olympics where they won seven medals - highest in the country’s history.
