Former President Donald Trump announced Friday (August 2) night that he has agreed to a proposal to debate against Vice President Kamala Harris. The proposal was apparently made by Fox News.

Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, “I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th.” He wrote that the debate will take place in Pennsylvania, although venue of the debate remains undetermined.

He said that the debate was previously scheduled against former Democrat presumptive nominee, US President Joe Biden (who he mockingly referred to as “Sleepy Joe”) on American Broadcasting Company (ABC). However, he said that that has been cancelled in light of Biden no longer being at the top of the ticket and Trump having a conflict of interest with ABC since he is “in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos [sic]”.

It is interesting to note that Kamala Harris said last month that she was “ready” to debate the former president. She accused him of backing away from the previous agreement to debate on ABC News on September 10.

Just a couple of days ago, the US Vice President had taunted Donald Trump about the comments he was making about her, saying “I do hope Trump will agree to meet me on the debate stage, because as the saying goes – if you got something to say, say it to my face.”

As per Trump’s post, the debate will have similar rules to the one that took place on CNN. There is, however, one exception. There will be live audience witnessing the debate this time around. In Trump’s words, it would be a “full arena audience”.

The Moderators of the Debate will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.

Fox News wrote that it had invited Trump and Harris to participate in a debate in Pennsylvania on September 17.
