Tech Billionaire Elon Musk announced that he is endorsing former US President Donald Trump in the 2024 US Presidential elections. Musk’s endorsement came just minutes after Trump was rushed from the stage after he was shot at a political rally in Pennsylvania.

The Tesla CEO took to X, formally known as Twitter to make his stance very clear on the matter. “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery," he wrote in his post. In a subsequent post, the billionaire shared a photograph of Trump moments after the episode and went on to add another message: “Last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt.”

While Musk’s formal endorsement of Trump was indeed sudden but not surprising. The SpaceX CEO drifted rightwards soon after US President Joe Biden took over the Oval Office. Over the last year, Trump’s allies have been seeking the endorsement and financial support of Musk because of his cult-like influence online.

Musk even alluded that the whole incident was “deliberate” and referred to the Biden administration as “SS leadership,” asking for the government’s resignation.

Extreme incompetence or it was deliberate. Either way, the SS leadership must resign. https://t.co/0vYGrj6yuH

Longtime coming

Musk’s endorsement came 30 minutes after the incident, however, it was long overdue. On Friday, reports started to swirl that the billionaire has donated to a Super Political Action Committee (Super PAC) working towards getting former President Donald Trump elected in the 2024 US Presidential elections.

People familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that Musk contributed to a low-profile group called America PAC. However, it is still unclear exactly how much he donated to the group but sources called it a “sizable amount”. Interestingly, the figure will be known soon, since the PAC is next to disclose its list of donors on July 15.

The group named America PAC is working mostly behind the scenes to boost the Trump campaign. Their “get out and vote” efforts are reportedly being conducted most intensively in key battleground states that will determine the outcome of the elections. However, Federal Election Commission disclosures didn’t detail where work is actually being conducted.

The group majorly focus on door-to-door persuasion as a recent ruling by the FEC allowed super PACs to coordinate with campaigns on voter outreach. In light of this, America PAC hired In Field Strategies, a national grassroots firm that has also worked for the Republican National Committee.

Musk’s decision to donate to a pro-Trump group is being touted as a major blow to US President Joe Biden’s bid for the White House. It is pertinent to note that Biden’s campaign is already marred with concerns about his age and his mental acuity.
