Vice President Kamala Harris is leading over her opponent Donald Trump not only nationally but also in battleground states, according to latest polls.

Since taking the presidential race from Joe Biden, Harris has consistently eroded the lead that Republican nominee had for months. Amid consolidation of the Democrats and surging support among Independents, she has breathed new energy into the Democratic Party’s campaign against Trump.

Now, latest polls have shown that Harris is leading over Trump by around 4 per cent nationally and is also leading in six of the seven battleground states by a margin of 1 per cent.

The latest findings come shortly after a poll of polls this week found that Harris was ahead of Trump in four of the three battleground states and Trump was leading in only three. This indicates that Harris has continued to make gains.

Harris leads in 6 of 7 battleground states: Poll

Harris has a lead of around 1 per cent over Trump in six of the seven battleground states, according to a poll by Benenson Strategy Group-GS Strategy Group.

The poll, conducted for the Cook Political Report, found that Trump was only leading narrowly in one battleground state of Nevada. Even in Nevada, the poll found that Harris has narrowed the gap by 6 per cent since May.

The seven states considered as battlegrounds by the polls were Arizona, Giorgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Harris was leading in all of these states except for Nevada.

The battleground states are the ‘swing states’ that actually decide the US presidential election result. While almost all states are known to be either Democrat- or Republican-leaning, a bunch of states have a history of swinging every now and then and it is these states that are most crucial for the election.
