It’s just less than a month for the much-awaited November 5 US elections, the Democrats and the Republicans are leaving no stone unturned to score big. In the latest, Donald Trump’s running mate and Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance railed against the Harris-Biden administration over their response to the October 7, 2023, Hamas’ attack on Israel.
Addressing a “Standing with Israel” rally on the National Mall organised on Monday to mark one year of Israel-Hamas war, Vance said the deadly operation by the Palestinian terrorist group was an “attack on Americans”.
Vance also sported a hostage tag at the October 7 memorial on Monday.
The event was sponsored by the Philos Project, which is a nonprofit that supports Christian and Jewish engagement.
‘Oct. 7 not just an attack on Israel’
“October 7 was not just an attack on Israel, and it was not just an attack on Jews, it was an attack on Americans — and every single American of common sense and principle must reject it,” Vance said.
Harris, Biden haven’t done a thing
Vance also slammed Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden for failing to secure the release of dozens of American and Israeli hostages who have been held in the Gaza Strip by Hamas for a year now.
“It is disgraceful that we have an American president and vice president who haven’t done a thing” to bring the hostages home, Vance said.
He further urged Harris to use her “authority” to get it done.
“We can do it. We just need real leadership,” Vance said.
Both Biden and Harris have reportedly been attempting to broker a cease-fire and hostage agreement between Hamas and Israel, but so far, they have been unsuccessful.
What Trump would do to protect American Jews?
In his speech, Vance went on to lay out what an administration led by Trump would do to protect American Jews.
Vance said, if Trump is voted to power in the upcoming presidential elections, he would “stop funding” anti-Jewish “radicals” and bring back home all American hostages from across the world.
The Republican Vice Presidential candidate further said that Trump administration’s policy would include stripping “accreditation and the federal support of colleges” that do not protect pro-Israel students.
“We want to give Israel the right and the ability to finish what Hamas started. Israel didn’t start this, Hamas did, but Israel is going to finish it," Vance said.
