Trump claims Zuckerberg apologised for Meta's AI goof up, says he 'won't vote a Democrat'

Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg called Donald Trump not once, not twice but “few times” to apologise and to say that he is not going to “support a Democrat”, the former US President and Republican presidential candidate has recently claimed.

“So, Mark Zuckerberg called me. First of all, he called me a few times. He called me after the event and he said, ‘That was really amazing, it was very brave,’” Trump said, possibly referring to the assassination bid.

“He actually announced he’s not gonna support a Democrat because he can’t because he respected me for what I did that day. He actually apologised and said he made a mistake,” Trump added.

Why did Zuckerberg apologise to Trump?

Last month, an attempt was made to assassinate the former president during one of his rallies in Pennsylvania. The bullet hit his ear and as his security officials rushed to escort him, Trump threw his fist in the air while his ear was bleeding. The moment was captured by an Associated Press photographer and was widely shared and picked up by most media outlets as well as social media.

However, Zuckerburg’s Facebook censored the image, flagging it as an “altered photo”.

Later, the social media giant apologised for the same saying that it was a “mistake” and that the systems were meant to detect a separate version of the image.

Meanwhile, Google, similarly, allegedly censored keywords related to the assassination. Regarding this, Trump has said, “Google, nobody called from Google. Google has been very bad. They’ve been very irresponsible,” adding that the company has to “be careful.”

The love-hate relationship between Trump and Zuckerberg

From bashing each other to extending support, Trump and Zuckerberg’s relationship has been in the lows and the highs.

Just last month, Trump threatened to imprison the Meta chief. Trump never truly forgave Zuckerberg for banning him from Facebook after the US Capitol riots and his threat might have been a fallout of this.

Meanwhile, Zuckerberg recently said that his immediate reaction to Trump getting shot was “badass” and inspiring.

“Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life,” Zuckerberg said.
