Viral Video: Swati Maliwal 'attacker' Bibhav Kumar seen accompanying ex-boss Kejriwal for poll rally in Lucknow

It’s been three days since Swati Maliwal accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s close aide Bibhav Kumar of assaulting her. Although the Aam Aadmi Party has admitted assault against Maliwal, there has been no official word from Kejriwal yet.

Amid this, a new video has surfaced online that has triggered controversy. The video, shared widely by BJP leaders and others on X, shows Kejriwal with Bibhav Kumar at the Lucknow airport. AAP leader Sanjay Singh can also be seen in the video.

What was Kumar doing with Kejriwal?

The video is from Wednesday night when the Delhi CM arrived at the Lucknow airport to hold rallies in Uttar Pradesh for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Kumar is reportedly accompanying Kejriwal during his trip.

Kejriwal and Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav held a joint press conference in Lucknow on Thursday for the INDIA bloc.

When asked about Swati Maliwal, Kejriwal evaded the question and instead, Sanjay Singh answered by saying that the saffron party should first speak on the cases of Manipur, JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna and female wrestlers.

BJP slams ‘double standards’

BJP, which has been demanding Kejriwal’s resignation for keeping mum in the Rajya Sabha MP Maliwal’s assault case, has hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party for not taking any step in the case.

BJP leader Tajinder Bagga said, “Sanjay Singh ji was saying that you will take strict action against Bibhav but you started making him tour the whole country.”

The case so far

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday admitted that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s former personal assistant Bibhav Kumar “misbehaved” with Swati Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha MP and the former chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).

During a press conference, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said, “Yesterday, a condemnable incident took place. Swati Maliwal had gone to Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to meet him. While she was waiting for him in the drawing room, Vaibhav Kumar allegedly misbehaved with her. The CM has taken cognisance of the matter, and he will take appropriate action.”

The  Delhi Police  on Monday said that they had received a PCR call from Maliwal, alleging that she was assaulted by Kumar at the chief minister’s residence in Civil Lines.

Meanwhile, Maliwal’s ex-husband Naveen Jaihind has said that there is a threat to her life.

Who is Bibhav Kumar?

This is not the first time Bibhav Kumar has made headlines. Earlier this year, Kumar was sacked from the post of Kejriwal’s private secretary after the Directorate of Vigilance termed his appointment “illegal.”

Kumar was also questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in April over the Delhi Excise Policy scam that saw Kejriwal imprisoned in Tihar for 50 days before he was released on bail last week.
