While the Israel-Hamas war continues to escalate, things are not stable in the West Bank. On Thursday, reports started to emerge that around 50 masked Israeli settlers have invaded the Palestinian village of Jit and created a major ruckus in the area.

According to The Times of Israel, the settlers torched at least four homes and six vehicles in the Palestinian village. Multiple videos of the incident are also circulating online, where a massive blaze can be seen erupting through the area.

After the news broke out Israel’s Labor Party chairman Yair Golan took to X, formerly known as Twitter to condemn the incident. “Messianic Jewish terrorism is determined to ignite the territory and force a difficult and unnecessary regional campaign on Israel," he wrote in his post. It is pertinent to note that the settler violence in the West Bank reached an all-time high following the start of the war in Gaza.

הטרור היהודי המשיחי נחוש להבעיר את השטח ולכפות על ישראל מערכה אזורית קשה ומיותרת.

Not the first time

This is not the first time Israeli settlers infiltrated the Palestinian region and torched their homes. In April this year, at least one Palestinian was killed and 10 were injured in an attack by Israeli settlers in the West Bank village of al-Mughayyir.

Several homes and cars were burned in the region as IDF struggled to gain control over the situation at that time. The April incident took place amid a manhunt for a 14-year-old Israeli boy who had gone missing from a nearby illegal outpost.

The Palestinians in the region also faced persecution at the hands of the Israeli army. Last month, A Palestinian woman and child were killed by Israeli army fire during a military raid in the West Bank city of Tulkarm.

The Israeli forces raided the Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm as they took control over the clashes with armed Palestinians. “Israeli forces bombed a house near my home,” Kamal Ahmed Jaber, a resident, told Anadolu at that time. “We heard gunfire. The house next to us exploded and nearby houses were damaged,” he added.
