Hezbollah reveals 'Imad 4', massive tunnel complex undetected by foreign intelligence

Amid the brewing tensions in the Middle East, the Iranian-backed terror group Hezbollah released a new video in which they unveiled a large tunnel complex, where the group keeps its missile and rocket launcher. The Lebanese group have been engaged in a conflict with Israel following the start of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

The tensions between Israel and Hezbollah escalated after Israel Defence Force said that it had eliminated Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr. The Lebanese group released the controversial video two weeks after Hezbollah vowed to increase its attack against Israel.

The video in question showed “Imad 4,” a massive missile complex with long subterranean tunnels and massive rocket launchers. It is not clear where the tunnel complex is situated and Hezbollah has claimed that the place has not been detected by any “foreign” intelligence agency as of now.

The tunnels are so huge that even large trucks and vehicles can move through them. Entry and exit points of some of the tunnels include blast doors.

The timing of it all

The group has already launched over 7,500 rockets and 200 drone attacks on Israel since October 2023. In response to this, Israel has preferred to conduct precision and proportional responses to Hezbollah’s attacks as the conflict surpasses 10 months.

Amid the brewing tensions between the two, the Israeli authorities have evacuated some 60,000 people, including 14,000 children, from northern Israel. It has also killed around 410 Hezbollah members, The Jerusalem Post reported.

Hezbollah has claimed that the new underground facility has dedicated construction, security, and backup launch teams. “These teams operate based on pre-determined coordinates for launching operations. In addition, the facility, according to exclusive sources, is outfitted with a field hospital and enough supplies to sustain its occupants for a period ranging from eight months to a year,” the group told Al-Mayadeen.

Many experts believe that this is just the “tip of the iceberg”. Interestingly, in the past, Iran has showcased similar underground missile and drone sites.

What is also concerning is the fact that the video also included a statement from Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, who said that “resistance rockets cover all of Palestinian territory from Kiryat Shmona in the north to Eilat in the south.” The Iranian embassy in Beirut also shared the video of the tunnel and claimed that Iran can attack Israel “from any location”.

“In Persian, we call the missile installations located underground and inside rocks and mountains ‘missile cities’,” the consulate wrote on X, formally known as Twitter.

“These missile cities are located all over the Iranian territory, and they strike terror into the hearts of Iran’s enemies,” it added, noting that “if necessary, we can attack the enemy from any location in the Islamic Republic of Iran," the embassy furthered.
