It’s the final day of the Republican National Convention. Donald Trump will address the crowd at the event for the first time since he survived an assassination bid over the weekend. Day 4 of the RNC in Milwaukee will see Trump formally accepting the GOP’s presidential nomination. The last three days of the convention saw many twists and turns, some of which were a defining moment towards the upcoming US Presidential elections.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden’s re-election bid faces considerable challenges after Democratic partners told him privately over the week that his participation in the presidential race might prove futile as concerns over his health grow.

From Nancy Pelosi to Barack Obama, Democrat top brass has expressed concern over the president’s fitness and have asked him to reconsider. To make things worse, Biden, on Wednesday, tested positive for COVID-19.

Now, while Biden runs a virtual campaign, all eyes are on Trump’s big speech at RNC. Here’s a look at what to expect from day 4 and a wrap-up of the entire political event.

Trump to pitch national unity

After his brush with death, Trump told the Washington Examiner that his RNC address is going to be “a whole different speech now.”

“This is a chance to bring the whole country, even the whole world, together. The speech will be a lot different, a lot different than it would’ve been two days ago,” he said.

Strategists see the convention address, expected to be viewed by tens of millions in prime time, as a rare chance to reshape the former US president’s image to appeal more to moderate voters.

Campaign staffers say the near-death experience has prompted Trump to revise his acceptance speech to emphasize inclusiveness, rather than attacks on Biden’s Democrats.

“I don’t think you can go through what he went through on Saturday, really a near-death experience, and not come out on the other side impacted,” said Lara Trump, Trump’s daughter-in-law who serves as Republican National Committee co-chair.

The convention has put Republican unity on display, in contrast to the divisions roiling Democrats, with former rivals including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley offering strong endorsements of his candidacy.

  • The biggest highlight of the first day of the convention was when Trump announced JD Vance to be his running mate

  • Republican delegates formally nominated Trump for the presidential elections for the third time

Day 2 of RNC

  • Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who was once in the presidential race herself, delivered her first address at the convention where she said, “I will start by making one thing perfectly clear: Donald Trump has my strong endorsement. Period.”

  • Vivek Ramaswamy also addressed the event for the first time and endorsed Trump’s candidacy by saying, “Donald Trump is the president who will actually unite this country”

Day 3 of RNC

  • Two days after he was nominated as Trump’s running mate in the elections, Ohio Senator JD Vance introduced himself to voters for the first time. He said, “There is still so much talent and grit in the American heartland. But for these places to thrive, we need a leader who fights for the people who built this country”

  • Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, also took the stage to support her husband’s vice-presidential bid. “When JD met me, he approached our differences with curiosity and enthusiasm. That JD and I could meet at all, let alone fall in love and marry, is a testament to this great country," she said

  • Trump’s 17-year-old granddaughter Kai also took the opportunity to talk about her grandpa. She said, “To me, he’s just a normal grandpa. Even when he’s going through all these court cases, he always asked me how I’m doing”
