Ajay Devgn and Janhvi Kapoor’s films Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Ulajh released at the box-office on August 2. And both the films have not been able to collect a healthy amount on their opening days. Devgn’s film collected Rs 2.9 crore whereas Kapoor’s opened at only Rs 1.75 crore.
In its review of Neeraj Pandey’s directorial, Firstpost wrote- “Not complaining about the look of the film which is fantastic including the shots of the vibrant chawls and to see St Xaviers College, Bombay in its full grandeur was definitely a nostalgic feeling. The plot travels between 2001 and the present time. But the only complaint is had the filmmaker paid a little attention to the story and script, the movie could have been far better. Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha had beautiful shots, but the film wasn’t stitched well. The back and forth with flashbacks and present time made it all the more boring. I was hoping against hope that the climax is going to be different and probably will have some magical twist, but that too was predictable.”
And for Ulajh, the publication wrote- “ Director Sudhanshu Saria has managed to keep the narrative gripping and captivating but sometimes it does get confusing due to the entangling of tracks. Shreya Dev Dube and Shashwat Sachdev, who handled the camera and music department have captured the intense mood with their impeccable skills. Talking about the plot, Janhvi Kapoor, who lays the film on her responsible shoulder, puts her best foot forward in the portrayal. However, Gulshan Devaiah and Roshan Mathew steal the show with their intense and superlative act.”
