According to an update from Indian Olympic Association (IOA), the verdict  is expected to be announced by 6 pm local time — 9.30 pm IST — on Tuesday.

“The ad hoc division of CAS has extended time till 6-00 p.m. on August 11, 2024, for all parties in the Vinesh Phogat vs. United World Wrestling & the International Olympic Committee matter to present additional points before the Sole Arbitrator Hon. Dr Annabelle Bennett. The decision will be issued before 6-00 p.m. on August 13, 2024,” read an official statement from the IOA on Saturday.

While the deadline for the announcement of the verdict is 13 August, the three parties — Vinesh Phogat, United World Wrestling (UWW) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) - can submit any additional documents before the Sole Arbitrator by 6 pm local time (9.30 pm IST) on Sunday, 11 August.

The IOA had earlier mentioned 9.30 pm IST on 11 August as the deadline for the verdict, before posting a clarification.

Wrestler Vinesh appealed against her disqualification from the women’s 50kg event, in which she had stormed into the final after winning all three of her bouts, for being overweight by just 100 grams.

She had filed her appeal with an ad-hoc panel of the Lausanne-based body specially set up in the French capital to solve disputes arising from the Olympics Games.

Vinesh, who announced her retirement from the sport right after her disqualification, is hopeful of winning at least a joint-silver, with USA Sarah Hildebrandt having won gold in the category.

While the Indian wrestler is being represented by four lawyers from the Paris Bar, the IOA managed to get senior advocate and former Solicitor General of India Harish Salve and eminent sports lawyer Vidushpat Singhania to attend the proceedings representing them.
