The first gold medal of the Paris Olympics 2024 was won by China Saturday as the Yuting Huang-Lihao Sheng pair won the top prize in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team shooting event. Yuting Huang and Lihao Sheng defeated Lihao Sheng South Korea’s Jihyeon Keum-Hajun Park 16-12 in the gold medal match.

Keum and Park won silver for Korea.

The first medal of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games was won by Kazakhstan’s Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev who defeated Germany’s Anna Janssen and Maximilian Ulbrich 17-5 in the same event to win the bronze medal.

Two Indian pairs – Ramita Jindal-Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan-Sandeep Singh – were also part of the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event but failed to reach the medal round after finishing sixth and 12th respectively.

Only the top four teams from the qualification reach the final of mixed team events.

Gold medallist Yuting Huang-Lihao Sheng had topped the qualification with a 632.2 score, followed by the silver medal winners South Koreans who recorded a score of 631.4.

Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev of Kazakhstan were third with a score of 630.8 and Germany’s Anna Janssen and Maximilian Ulbrich (629.7) were fourth.

Ramita-Arjun pair had scored 628.7, while Elavenil-Sandeep managed of 626.3.
