In 2014, Emraan Hashmi appeared as a guest on Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan. During the rapid-fire round, when he was asked to name an actor that came to his mind on hearing the word ‘plastic’, the Tiger 3 actor spontaneously named Aishwarya Rai.
In a conversation with The Lallantop, Emraan while promoting his OTT show ‘Showtime’ said, “I regret it because it was distasteful. Lately, people have become very sensitive. People get mad at everything on social media. In terms of the show, we were playing a game, it was all in jest. It was supposed to be taken sportingly. There are many such games in the show. Earlier, people weren’t this sensitive.”
Hashmi added, “Recently, Karan Johar himself confessed that the rapid fire round in the latest season of the show was the most boring. It’s because now, the environment has completely changed. You can’t give such answers anymore. At that time, I just wanted to win the hamper and I ended up saying what I said.”
The actor also confessed he would like to apologise and has also waited outside her vanity van since he’s a fan.
This is not the first time that Emraan has opened up about the controversy that he made during the chat show. In a previous interview with Zoom, he opened up on how he ended up making enemies in the industry. “Yeah, I ended up making enemies. If I go on the show again, I will make a mess of things again and it will probably the worse in the rapid-fire round than I was before.”
