When 'Animal' star Rashmika Mandanna was trolled for promoting chicken after claims of being vegetarian

Pan-India star and National Crush, Rashmika Mandanna is currently basking in the success of Animal, which collected over Rs 500 crore at the box office. However, she found herself in the middle of a controversy when an ad of hers went viral. She had claimed to be vegetarian and could be seen promoting chicken in this very ad film.

The ad went viral on social media but many of her fans jumped into her defence. Here’s the mixed bag of comments that dropped in:

“Now at least understand why we Kanndigas don’t like her…. Because she changes her words here and there many times,” a comment on the post read. “It might be fake chicken but yea she should not be doing the ad at the first place cause she says she is a vegetarian,” added another. “Rashmika always lies through her teeth. Thanks for bringing this out,” a third user claimed.

In a recent conversation, the actress opened up about a scene where she slapped Ranbir Kapoor ’s character. Talking about the sequence, Rashmika said she cried and screamed after the scene was over.

“The whole sequence was one take because there was a lot of moving. It wasn’t predictable. I didn’t know what I was going to do. Sandeep (Reddy Vanga) told me just to feel how a person in this situation would feel. I remember only this. I don’t remember anything between the action and the cut. I just can’t process it. My brain was just going blank,” said the actress while talking to PinkVilla.

She added, “After the sequence, I was crying for real. I have slapped him, I am screaming, the chaos is happening, and I go to Ranbir, and I am like, ‘Was that okay? Are you okay?’ We finished that sequence in half a day. I loved it, and at that moment, I realised that this is the high of being an actor. People don’t write sequences like this every time. I am so glad that I did this movie and this sequence. I was surprised with myself.”

Talking about the movie, it also features Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Sonali Batra, Suresh Oberoi, Prem Chopra and others. The sequel to the film titled Animal Park is expected to hit the screens in 2026.
