Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal at Paris Olympics on Thursday at the Stade de France to become one of India’s most decorated athlete on the biggest stage.

Chopra came in second, behind Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, with a best throw of 89.45m to add to his gold medal from the Tokyo Games.

IOC Member and Reliance Foundation chairperson Mrs Nita Ambani congratulated the 26-year-old Neeraj for his second Olympic medal. Neeraj had won a gold at the Tokyo Olympics - India’s historic first in athletics.

“Congratulations, Neeraj Chopra, for winning Silver in Javelin at the Paris Games,” Mrs Ambani said.

Ambani also lauded the javelin thrower for carrying India’s hopes and dreams and uplifting their spirits.

“You have once again uplifted the spirit of an entire nation and made every Indian proud,” she added.

“Your story – starting from Shivaji Stadium in Panipat to the Stade de France in Paris – is a beacon of hope and inspiration for every athlete and for all of us,” she continued.

Chopra joined an elite list of Indian athletes to win two Olympic medals and Mrs Ambani asserted that his accomplishments would be remembered fondly for generations to come.

“You will be remembered for generations to come as a true legend of Indian athletics. Wishing you even greater success and glory in the years ahead,” she concluded.
