India are sending a 117-member strong contingent for the Paris Olympics 2024 including 70 male and 47 female athletes. They will take part in 16 sports: Archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, equestrian, golf, hockey, judo, rowing, sailing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, tennis, wrestling and weightlifting.

This is India’s second-largest contingent for a Gummer Olympic Games after Tokyo 2020. 121 Indian athletes took part in the Tokyo Games.

There are 21 shooters in India’s contingents – the maximum from a single sport.

A large number of the current Indian contingent – 72 athletes – will be making their Olympic debuts in Paris.

The 117-member contingent comprises 5 five former medal winners: Neeraj Chopra, Mirabai Chanu, PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain, and the men’s hockey team. Neeraj is the only Olympics gold medal winner in India’s contingent.

Parul Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker are the only Indians who will compete in more than one individual event at Paris 2024. Parul is set to compete in women’s 5000m run and 3000m steeplechase, while Manu will take part in women’s 10m air pistol, 10m air pistol mixed team, and 25m pistol shooting competitions.

The 14-year-old swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu is the youngest Indian athlete at the Paris Olympics, while 44-year-old tennis ace Rohan Bopanna is the oldest followed by table tennis legend Sharath Kamal (42).

The Indian contingent also included 140 support staff members.
