Paris Olympics Day 8 LIVE Updates

With that, we’ve come to the end of our coverage of Day 8 of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Julien Alfred beating strong favourite Sha’Carri Richardson to the women’s 100-metre title and winning St Lucia’s first-ever Olympic medal certainly would be the highlight of the day.

The other standout moments from the day were Simone Biles winning her third gold medal in the Paris Games and Katie Ledecky winning her ninth career gold medal after winning the 800-metre freestyle title. And under-fire boxer Imane Khelif confirmed a medal for herself after defeating Hungary’s Luca Anna Hamori by unanimous verdict.

It wasn’t that happy a day for the Indian contingent though, with Manu Bhaker narrowly missing out on an unprecedented third medal by finishing fourth in the women’s 25m pistol final and boxer Nishant Dev suffering a similar fate in the men’s welterweight quarter-finals, narrowly missing out on India’s first non-shooting medal in the Paris Games.

As we call it a day, we leave you with India’s schedule for the ninth day of competitions in the Paris Olympics.
