Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will be hosting an ‘India House’ at the Paris Olympics 2024 which should help the athletes adjust more easily to the European country during the quadrennial event. The India House pavilion at the Paris Games, which will be held from 26 July to 11 August, will include multi-cuisine Indian restaurants, showcase India’s cultural heritage, host yoga events and meet-and-greet sessions with Indian athletes, as per a report in Times Of India.

The India House will be a joint collaboration between the IOA and Reliance Foundation, who are the principal partners of the country’s National Olympic Committee (NOC). Reliance Foundation will also build the pavilion.

As per the report, the Indian House will be built at a 40,000-square-foot facility near the Games Village. It will also have a section celebrating India’s 100-year history in the Olympics.

Most importantly it will be an area where Indian athletes could feel at home amid the pressure of participating in the Olympics. The India House will also help solve the problem of athletes missing familiar food.

“When we were in Paris last month, we did have an opportunity to go and have a look at the place where the India House is being set up. It’s basically a facility which is not only meant for athletes but also for the Indian diaspora and fans to visit and enjoy the direct feed of matches involving Indian athletes," IOA president PT Usha said.

“A lot of cultural activities have been being planned where we will showcase India’s tourism, progress made in digitalisation and cultural activities. There will be a dedicated Indian food section for the country’s athletes and travelling Indian fans and mediapersons. Two restaurants will be set up which will serve food dishes from North and South India.”
