Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani, an International Olympic Committee (IOC) member, held a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Saturday. The meeting between Nita, Mukesh, and Macron was held a day after the Paris Olympics 2024 was declared open.

Nita and Mukesh had also attended the grand opening ceremony on Friday.

India have sent a 117-member strong contingent for the Paris Olympics, comprising 70 male and 47 female athletes. They will take part in 16 sports.

Recently, Nita, the Founder of the Reliance Foundation, was re-elected unanimously as an IOC member from India. The decision was announced at the 142nd IOC Session in Paris this week. Nita won unanimously with 100 per cent of the votes.

“I am deeply honoured to be re-elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee. I would like to thank President Bach and all my colleagues in the IOC for their faith and trust in me. This re-election is not just a personal milestone but also a recognition of India’s growing influence in the global sporting arena.

“I share this moment of joy and pride with every Indian and look forward to continuing our efforts to strengthen the Olympic Movement in India and around the world,” she said.

Nita was first appointed to the IOC in 2016 and has since played a major role in championing India’s sporting ambitions and Olympic vision. She played a crucial role in India hosting the first IOC session in Mumbai for over 40 years, in October 2023.

The Reliance Foundation in partnership with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is also hosting the first-ever India House at the Paris Olympics 2024 this summer.
