 'You're selling death, I could never…'

John Abraham is gearing up for the release of his film Vedaa that opens in cinemas on August 15. And in an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, the actor spoke about actors endorsing pan masala. It seemed like a dig at Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn even though he didn’t take names.

John said, “People talk about fitness, and the same people endorse paan masala. I love all my actor friends and I’m not disrespecting any of them. I want to make it clear that I’m talking about myself. But I will not sell death, because it’s a matter of principle. Do you know that the yearly turnover for the paan masala industry is Rs 45,000 crore? You’re selling death. How can you live with it?”

During the Vedaa trailer launch, lead star John Abraham snapped at a journalist when he questioned his latest filmography, which is filled with actioners.

The journalist told John Abraham that he is focusing only on action films and said, “Kuch naya laayee na sir (Do some different films, sir).” The actor got annoyed by the question, and replied, “Have you seen the film ( Vedaa)? Can I call out bad questions and idiots?”

Now, John has opened up about the incident and said that the journalist was ‘planted there’ to ‘provoke’ him. “I know that one guy was planted there to rile me up, to antagonise me, to provoke me and I want to say that he won and I lost because I did get angry,” said John in a chat with Ranveer Allahbadia on his YouTube channel.
