Bhaker is the fourth Indian after Norman Pritchard (athletics), Sushil Kumar (wrestling) and PV Sindhu (badminton) to win multiple medals for India at a Summer Games.

But no Indian had won multiple medals at a single edition - until Bhaker at Paris 2024.

In the final, Bhaker and Sarabjot beat Wonho Lee and Ye Jin Oh 16-10 while survivng some jitters late on. The Indian pairing led 10-4 at one point and consolidated that massive advantage to make it 14-6 after 10 series of shots.

Korean pairing bounced back by winning consecutive series and kept the match alive but all it did was prolong the inevitable.

In the 13th series, India shot 19.6 compared to Korea’s 18.5 and bagged the medal.

“I feel really proud. There’s a lot of gratitude that I was able to do this. Thank you for all the blessings. We can not control (everything). We only want to control what is in our hands. Our plan was to keep fighting till the last shot,” Bhaker told India’s Olympic broadcaster JioCinema.

Sarabjot added: “The game was tough. There was a lot of pressure. I am very happy”.

Bhaker and Sarabjot had qualified for the 10m air pistol mixed team bronze medal match by finishing third in the qualification with a score of 580. If they had mustered one more point, they would have gone into the gold medal match.
