Two-time Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker’s father has denied marriage rumours of his daughter with Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, adding that Manu is still “very young”. The comments of Bhaker’s father comes after videos of a conversation between Bhaker’s mother and Neeraj Chopra began doing the rounds on social media during the recently-concluded Paris Olympics.

“Manu is still very young. She is not even of marriageable age. Not even thinking about it right now,” Kishan Bhaker, Manu’s father, was quoted as saying by Dainik Bhasker.

He added that Manu’s mother looked at Neeraj like her son. “Manu’s mother considers Neeraj like her son,” he said.

Neeraj Chopra’s uncle also opened up on the topic, saying that everyone will get to know whenever the 26 year-old ties the knot. “Just as Neeraj brought the medal, the entire country got to know about it. Similarly, when he marries, then everyone will know,” he told Dainik Bhasker.

Both Manu and Neeraj are from Haryana. Manu, 22, recently made history at the Paris Olympics when she became the first Indian of independent India to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics. Manu won bronze in the women’s 10m Air Pistol and the mixed team 10m Air Pistol shooting competitions. Neeraj, on the other hand, won silver in javelin throw, adding to the gold medal he won in Tokyo three years back.
