Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films are two of the biggest production houses in the country. But Vikram Kapadia, who has done films and shows like Made In Heaven, Yoddha, The Night Manager, and The Archies has something to say about them.
In an interview with Bollywood Now, Kapadia said, “Yash Raj and Dharma have this ego that we are Yash Raj and Dharma so we will pay you a little less but you should be happy because we are paying you. I think they do that with everyone. I think that’s why actors are concerned.”
“Yash Raj paid me well as a writer but hoga na kahi pe that hum Yash Raj hain. You are getting a role, they are giving you a break. So maybe the value is a little less but they never delay in payment,” the actor added.
Adar Poonawalla led Serene Production has acquired 50 percent stake in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment, for Rs 1,000 crore, the company said in a press release. Earlier, it was reported Saregama would be doing the same but the reports were refuted.
The statement read- “Adar Poonawalla led Serene Productions today announced that it has entered into a binding agreement to invest INR 1,000 crore into Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment (collectively, “Dharma”), India’s leading production house. Through this investment, Serene Productions will hold a 50% stake in Dharma, with Karan Johar retaining the remaining 50% ownership.”
It added, “Karan Johar as the Executive Chairman will spearhead the company’s creative vision, while Apoorva Mehta, in his role as the Chief Executive Officer, will work with Karan in steering the strategic direction and overseeing the operational excellence of the organization.”
