Director Siddharth P. Malhotra is thrilled that his directorial Maharaj has become a huge hit globally! Netflix and YRF Entertainment’s first film collaboration Maharaj, has become a huge success story by being on the global non-English top ten list for over two weeks now. In fact, Maharaj is the third most viewed content on this esteemed list!

That’s not all, the director revealed recently how he wanted Irffan Khan for the role that Jaideep Ahlawat played in the film. He said, “The only person we could think of for that role was Irrfan Khan. There was nobody else who could play this role but Irrfan Khan.”

He added, “I kept telling Jaideep sir there’s only once actor in the entire universe who can do this, and that’s him. He can do anything, he’s one of the best actors we have, undoubtedly. It took us time to convince him to do this, it was a lot of pressure on him. He’s rightfully getting all the love he gets for every film.”

Siddharth further says, “I’m deeply thankful to the global audience through Netflix for showing so much love on Maharaj, a film through which we tried to honour a great social reformer of India, Karsandas Mulji. His story needed to be told and it looks like the world is paying him a salute.”

The filmmaker raises a toast to the entire team on this milestone moment. He says, “To be a huge success story by being on the global non-English top ten list for over two weeks now is a rare feat and I share this moment with my entire cast and crew. We all made this film with a lot of respect to Kansandas, the Vaishnav community, and the women of this time and I’m proud that our film has touched the hearts of many.”
