Manu Bhaker created another history on Tuesday as she won a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at Paris 2024 with Indian shooter Sarabjot Singh. Manu, who won India’s first medal at the Paris Olympics – a bronze in a 10m air pistol individual event – has become the first athlete in independent India’s history to win two medals at a same Olympics.

Manu-Sarabjot beat South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin 16-10 in the Bronze Medal play-off match. Both Bhaker and Sarabjot shot consistently with regular 10s in the series to overcome the Koreans.

Manu Bhaker will also take part in the 25m pistol event.

Anglo-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard had won two silver medals in 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Paris Olympics but that feat had come in the pre-Independence era.
