Aman Sehrawat will be aiming to maintain India’s 16-year medal streak at the Olympics when he faces Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz in the men’s 57kg bronze medal playoff.

India have won at least one medal in every edition of the Summer Olympics starting with Sushil Kumar’s bronze in the Beijing Games in 2008.

Paris Olympics: News, schedule, medals tally and more

In Paris earlier this week, Vinesh Phogat had confirmed India’s first wrestling medal by storming into the final of the women’s 57kg event, winning all three of her bouts.

The 29-year-old, however, would suffer a heartbreak the very next day as she was disqualified from the event for failing her second weigh-in — where she was found to be overweight by a mere 100 grams.

Vinesh has currently filed an appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against her disqualification, with a hearing set for Friday.

However, if she isn’t able to get her disqualification overturned and get the joint-silver that she is currently fighting for before CAS, it will be up to Aman and Reetika Hooda (women’s 76kg) to try and win at least one wrestling medal for the country before the Paris Games come to an end on Sunday.

Here’s everything you need to know about Sehrawat’s bronze medal playoff:

When and where will Aman Sehrawat’s bronze medal match take place?

Sehrawat’s bronze medal bout against Puerto Rico’s Cruz will take place on Friday, 11 pm Indian Standard Time at the Champ-de-Mars Arena in Paris.
