India’s Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan lost the bronze medal match in the skeet mixed team competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics to China’s Lyu Jianlin and Jiang Yiting. The Indian duo lost with a score of 43 while China won the medal with a score of 44.

The duo of Anant and Maheshwari had finished fourth in the qualification round of the skeet mixed team event at the Paris Olympics after they finished in fourth place with 146 points. Anant finished the qualification stage with scores of 25, 23 and 24, aggregating to 72 points. On the other hand, Maheshwari had scores of 24, 25 and 25 in the qualification round that aggregated for 74 points.

In the bronze medal contest against China, Lyu and Jyang scripted scores of 4/4 in the Station 1 of the contest. India were trailing China as they began shooting at the Station 2 of the contest.

Once again, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka missed out on a crucial target as he scored 3/4 in Station 2. Chauhan too ended up missing one of the targets in Station 2, whereas Jiang missed three targets. This meant the overall scores were level at 16-16 after the second station, and at the conclusion of Station 3, China ended up taking a lad of 24-20 against India in the contest. After Station 4, India were trailing China by a point, but the Anant-Maheshwari duo began the fifth station on a strong note.

Anant and Maheshwari hit all targets precisely in the fifth station and so did the Chinese pair. However, those crucial misses from Anant and Maheshwari in the initial rounds proved costly for India, as they fell sort by one point in the end.
