Wrestler Aman Sehrawat will be hoping to sign off from the Paris Olympics with a bronze medal around his neck on Friday after losing his semi-final bout against Japan's Rei Higuchi the previous day. AP
Wrestler Aman Sehrawat will be in focus on Friday as he aims to win India their sixth medal in the ongoing Paris Olympics and equal their second-best medal tally ever achieved in the London 2012 Games.

Sehrawat was off to a rollicking start in the men’s 57kg event on Thursday, defeating Macedonia’s Vladimir Egorov 10-0 in the pre-quarter-finals before handing Albania’s Zelimkhan Abakarov a 12-0 defeat in the quarter-finals.
Just when 21-year-old from Haryana was starting to set his sights on qualifying for the final and challenging for gold, he was stopped on his tracks by Japan’s Rei Higuchi, who stormed into the final with a commanding 10-0 victory.
The journey in his maiden Olympic Games, though isn’t over yet for young Sehrawat as he faces Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz in the bronze medal playoff on Friday.
A victory for him will not only help India win their sixth medal in the ongoing Games, it will also keep India’s streak of winning at least one wrestling medal in each edition of the Olympics since Beijing 2008 alive.
Ace wrestler Vinesh Phogat had earlier stormed into the final of the women’s 57kg event and was set to challenge USA’s Sarah Hildebrandt for the gold when she was disqualified for being overweight by 100 grams in her second weigh-in.

Besides Aman’s bronze medal playoff, Indians will also be in action on the golf course as well as on the track at Stade de France.
