India’s contingent, including the nation’s medal winners from the recently-concluded Paris Olympics, will arrive in New Delhi on Wednesday (14 August) morning from the French capital. The names of the athletes who are arriving in Delhi have not been revealed.

On Wednesday evening at 5.30 pm, the Indian contingent will meet President Droupadi Murmu over high tea, and on Thursday (15 August), the athletes will attend the Independence Day celebration at Red Fort in the national capital. On Thursday afternoon at 1 pm, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host the contingent at his residence in New Delhi.

India won six medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, including five bronze and one silver. Shooter Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian from independent India to win two medals at an Olympics, as she won bronze in women’s 10m Air Pistol and the Mixed Team 10m Air Pistol events.

Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won the country’s only silver in Paris. The India men’s hockey team, wrestler Aman Sehrawat and shooter Swapnil Kusale also won bronze medals in their respective competitions. Sarabjot Singh teamed up with Manu Bhaker in the mixed team shooting competition.
