With the Paris Olympics coming to an end on Sunday (August 11) with the closing ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the efforts of the Indian contingent and wished them the best for upcoming endeavours.

“Every Indian is proud of the athletes who did their best, he posted on social media platform X.

“As the Paris Olympics conclude, I appreciate the efforts of the entire Indian contingent through the games.”

The Indian contingent of 117 that travelled to the Paris Olympics returned with six medals, with a potential of it converting to seven after Vinesh Phogat’s appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Manu Bhaker won two medals, both bronze, with one coming in an individual event and another as a team alongside Sarabjot Singh. Swapnil Kusale made it three medals in shooting.

India men’s hockey team won a bronze medal by beating Spain in the playoff clash. Defending champion Neeraj Chopra finished second on the podium with a silver. Lastly, wrestler Aman Sehrawat sealed a spot with a bronze.
