Shah Rukh Khan rakes in over Rs 200 crore profit from his last release Dunki - here's how

Shah Rukh Khan delivered 2023 with the success of Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. However, the latter didn’t perform as expected, and some even claimed that SRK’s Red Chillies incurred losses after producing this Rajkumar Hirani directorial.

However, a source claimed that Dunki was a profitable venture for everyone involved and SRK made over Rs 200 crore with the dramedy. “He would have pocketed Rs 200 crore plus profits as the film earned Rs 600 crore plus collections across the world,” a source said as per Deccan Chronicle adding, “Actually, the comedy-drama was made with Rs 84 crore budget, which is very important. Although it is a moderate budget for a film of a superstar like SRK, it paid rich dividends."

“Along with SRK’s remuneration, the total cost of the project would be roughly Rs 250 crores and it garnered over Rs 600 crore collections worldwide, riding on his charisma. It rocked the box office in the US and other overseas centers and brought them more money,” added the source.

“They would have got another Rs 300 crore via digital, satellite rights and other rights. Hence, it was perfect planning and execution that made this possible, and kudos to SRK and Hirani for making a film with a specified budget and exploiting it well with meticulous promotions and marketing,” concluded the source.

Bankrolled by Rajkumar Hirani Films, along with Jio Studios and Red Chillies Entertainment, the movie also featured Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, Jyoti Subhash, Deven Bhojani, Manoj Kant and Anil Grover among others in prominent roles. It was shot in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kashmir, Budapest, London, Jeddah and Neom.
