'Ajay Devgn shouldn't have postponed Auron Mein Kahan...' says Manoj Desai

Director Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani has turned out to be a global blockbuster with a worldwide business of over Rs 800 crore. However, yesterday (Friday) the film grabbed the news for not so good reason.

The noon show of Kalki 2898 AD got cancelled at Mumbai’s popular Galaxy theatre due to lack of attendance. Executive director of the cinema hall, Manoj Desai confirmed the news to Times Now and said, , “Well, the movie was going very well until now. I have a total of five shows, 3 in Gaiety and 2 in Galaxy, and they were all registering a high audience. However, yes, I couldn’t run today’s show kyuki public bahut kam thi.” Sharing the minimum number of attendees he needs before starting the show, Desai added,  “My halls are of a larger capacity. I need at least 30–40 people before going ahead with a screening.”

When asked about the postponement of Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, which was supposed to release last Friday, Desai replied, “I don’t think Ajay Devgn should have postponed his film.”

In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, when director Nag Ashwin was asked about the box office expectation of Kalki 2898 AD, he replied, “Basically, to get our budget back. That was the first box office expectation. And everything beyond that was a bonus. I think my producer also had said that we make these films whatever we made for the past 10 years, that we’ve been together, we made it because we fully believe in the story and we believe in what this film can do for the industry or for the audience. So this was one of those. And obviously, we want to make our budget back. That was the first expectation. And we’re happy with it then.”
