Vidya Balan reveals she was body-shamed by someone she was close to, user says ‘I think it’s Shahid Kapoor because…’

Vidya Balan saw a massive rise in her clout and following post the success of Paa in 2009 and there was no looking back for the actress. However, in an interview with Humans Of Bombay, she revealed how she was body shamed by someone she was close to.

She said, “You know I think it’s always the closest people who hurt you the most and all I’ll say is that I’m not referring to family here. It’s irrelevant who the person is at this point, but suffice to say that when someone matters a lot to you and they are super-critical when they body shame you when they are just not supportive; it’s not nice. And the only thing for you to do at that point is to walk away.”

One user said it was Shahid Kapoor because he controlled Kareena as well as per his comments. In fact, many people have been speculating it was the Kaminey star.

Also, in 2007, it became less and less about her film choices and more about her fashion choices, on screen and off it. Back in 2008, Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan even gave her a Naariyal award for the clothes she wore in Heyy Babyy (2007).

On the podcast Unfiltered with Samdish, the actress said, “When they told me they’re going to give me the Na-Real award, I said, ‘Why me? My clothes are not just my choice, right?’”

Vidya Balan on nepotism

“Nepotism or no nepotism, I am here. Kisi ki baap ki industry nahi hai, nahi toh har baap ka beta, har baap ki beti successful hote (The film industry does not belong to anyone’s father, else every star kid would be successful),” said Balan while talking to Indian Express.

She added, “I have been happy doing my own things. There were times when I felt like, ‘Maybe if I had the protection of certain people, people would have been a bit kinder in those phases.’ But in terms of opportunities, I don’t think anybody has been able to deny me my share.”
