While the debate of nepotism again sparked as Sharmin is the niece of SLB, the comedian asked her, “Kya unhone aapka sach me audition liya tha ya aapne unko mamu banaya?”, She said it was a long one-year grueling process and she gave auditions 16 times. “Ek saal ke liye prepare kiya aur 16 baar auditions diye (In one year I gave 16 auditions for the role),” replied Sharmin.

While talking to Firstpost, Sharmin shared her experience of working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and said, “As an actor for Sanjay Leela Bhansali you have to give your all and be completely blank. In real life I am nothing like Alam as a person. There is something that Priyanka Chopra taught me: she has this switch from one character to another in Mary Kom or Bajirao Mastani where I was the assistant director.”
