Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai considered one of the loved couples, have garnered headlines since their separate arrival at the Radhika Merchant-Anant Ambani wedding. While their divorce rumours have been in the news for quite some time, a throwback interview has surfaced on the internet, where the Ghoomer actor has spoken about the first meeting with his wife.

“My dear friend Bobby Deol was shooting his first film, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. I was at the same location, I went to say a hi to him when he said, ‘oh come for dinner.’ That was Aishwarya’s first Hindi film and that’s the first time I ever interacted with her,” said Abhishek while talking in The Ranveer Show in 2021

He added, “Whenever she talks about it, she jokingly says, ‘I couldn’t understand a word of what you were saying’. Because here I was, this kid from an international boarding school, then went to Boston. I must’ve had some really heavy accent at that point. And she was like, ‘What were you saying?’”

“My formative years, my training in acting and in the world of cinema and stage, my boarding school days was in English,” the actor revealed.

The Yuva star recently grabbed the headlines when he liked a post on Instagram about divorce. Shared by author Heena Khandelwal, it featured an image of broken hearts and written, “When love stops being easy. Couples who have been married are now parting ways. What has prompted their decision and why are grey divorces on the rise?”

“Divorce is never easy for anyone. Who doesn’t dream of a happily ever after or envision recreating those heartwarming videos of elderly couples holding hands as they cross the street? Yet, sometimes life doesn’t unfold as we hoped. But how do people cope when they separate after decades together, after spending a significant portion of their lives relying on each other for both big and small things? What drives them to sever ties, and what challenges do they face? This story delves into these questions. Coincidentally, ‘grey divorces’ or ‘silver splitters’—terms for those seeking marital dissolution typically after age 50—are on the rise globally. The reasons, though varied, are not surprising,” the post read.
