When Priyanka Chopra cried in front of Nick Jonas as she was body-shamed for not being...

Actresses are often body-shamed in the industry when they don’t look a certain way. Unhealthily, the discussions and debates happen around their physical appearance more than their body of work. Priyanka Chopra has suffered the same and she once cried to Nick Jonas when she went through this experience herself.

She once said, “Fortunately I do not have a tendency to put on weight and can get away eating as much as I want to, which is a blessing in this industry. But even then, I’m not weight-conscious and eat well like a Punjabi kudi (girl). I love eating ghar ka khana (homecooked food) and am non-fussy about food. So no diet plans for me at all. What I do try and avoid is oily food. I don’t have that in excess.”

The actress added, “My daily diet consists of regular food like chapati, vegetables, soups, salads, rice, dal and lots of fruits. Also juices and water are very high on my intake list. In fact, water is a must for everyone, at least 10 glasses a day. I often overshoot that, but it does wonders to your skin. But I often indulge my tastebuds over weekends and they are reserved for binging on chocolates, cakes and tandooris.”

In an interview with FirtspostPriyanka Chopra mentioned that when she started her career, there were just ornamental roles that were offered to actresses and they were asked to be happy with it. Women actors were treated like side-kicks. They were told to be happy to be visible in just five scenes and five to six songs in films. Well, that’s how Bollywood functioned those days. So, she realised if female actors don’t get what they deserve in life, they will have to demand it.

She added, “My journey has been pretty long. It started when I was just seventeen. I have never been to a film school so whatever I am today, I owe it to the Hindi film industry because my foundation in acting started from here. My country trained me in such a way that I never had problem adjusting in another industry because when I stepped into Hollywood, I knew my craft well.”
