'Life was very bad after the film, was overweight, comparisons with Katrina Kaif backfired and…'

Zareen Khan made her Bollywood debut with Salman Khan’s Veer in 2010. But life wasn’t too rose tinted for the actress post the release of this period drama as per her revelations on Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa’s podcast.

Zareen said, “Life after Veer was very bad for me, I got a lot of criticism. The film was a life-changing moment for me.” Speaking about the unending comparisons with Katrina Kaif, Zareen said, “Initially, I felt very happy that I was being compared to Katrina Kaif, but within the industry, things kept getting worse. For me, who used to be overweight, being compared to Katrina was huge, but it all backfired."

Recalling an incident, Zareen Khan said, “There was a time I was even scared to step out of my house because people would comment on my clothes. That comparison went in a very negative way. I was given so many names, that at one point, I wanted to just sit at home. They all saw me as a failure.”

Zareen Khan, who has shared screen space with Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar in films like Veer and Housefull 2, faced an arrest warrant last year from the Kolkata court in connection with an alleged cheating case dating back to 2018.

The charge sheet against the actress before the Sealdah court in Kolkata had been submitted by the investigating officer. However, the actress neither appeared before the court nor appealed for bail. The court issued an arrest warrant due to continue to her repeated absence for the hearing.

When asked about the arrest warrant, the actress said that she had no idea about it and told India Today, “I’m sure there is no truth to this. I’m surprised too and am checking with my lawyer. Only then will I be able to give you some clarity. In the meantime, you can speak to my PR.”

In 2018, Zareen Khan was scheduled to perform during a Durga Puja function in Kolkata. While organisers waited for her arrival, she didn’t turn up. According to police, one of the organisers filed a complaint against the actress and her manager and an FIR was registered against both of them and were asked to appear for questioning.

The actress didn’t show up for questioning and claimed that she was misguided that it was a big event and would be attended by many influential personalities including the chief minister of West Bengal. However, later her team found that it was a small event and there was miscommunication regarding traveling and accommodation after which, she skipped the event.
