The latest blockbuster “Kalki 2898 AD” is taking the nation by storm, garnering immense success at the box office and receiving widespread acclaim for its stunning visual effects (VFX).

Netizens are buzzing about the film, with many claiming they’ve never seen anything like this in Indian cinema. Fans are drawing comparisons to Hollywood films, while some are praising Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus as a visual wonder, especially in its 3D format.

The film has now emerged as the biggest hit of the year so far with 11 days collections standing at Rs 212 crore in Hindi alone.

In an exclusive interview with Firstpost,  the filmmaker  spoke about what his box-office expectations were, bringing one of the biggest ensembles of all time, and mixing mythology, Mahabharata, and mirth all together in one film.

When asked about his box-office expectations, Ashwin said, “I think my producer also had said that we make these films whatever we made for the past 10 years, that we’ve been together, we made it because we fully believe in the story and we believe in what this film can do for the industry or for the audience. So this was one of those. And obviously, we want to make our budget back. That was the first expectation. And we’re happy with it then.”

“The next one is a while off because it’s not really shot yet. It’s shot for about 20 to 30 days,” said Ashwin while talking to Zoom/Times Now before adding, “I’d say at best 20 per cent (is ready). At best 20 percent because the big stuff is still remaining. We have to get that right.”

Revealing the sequel will be the Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan show, Nag said, “It’s fully him being the antagonist.”

Talking about the plot, Nag told Variety, “Every loose end or thread that we left hanging has to be wrapped up. Obviously, the most important thing will be the face-off between these three, which will be between Yaskin who can now wield the Gandiva, which is thought to be the most powerful weapon, versus Karna and Ashwatthama, who are the most fearsome warriors.”
