Apple has announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Kevan Parekh as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective January 1, 2025. Parekh, who currently serves as the company’s Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis, will succeed Luca Maestri, who has held the CFO position since 2014.

This transition marks a planned succession as Maestri shifts to oversee Corporate Services, including information systems and technology, information security, and real estate and development, continuing to report directly to CEO Tim Cook.

Parekh’s elevation to the CFO role is the culmination of an 11-year tenure at Apple, where he has established himself as a critical member of the finance leadership team. His responsibilities have included leading Financial Planning and Analysis, G&A and Benefits Finance, Investor Relations, and Market Research.

Before his current role, Parekh headed finance for Apple’s Worldwide Sales, Retail, and Marketing, underscoring his deep understanding of the company’s diverse business operations.

Before joining Apple, Parekh held several senior leadership positions at Thomson Reuters and General Motors. At Thomson Reuters, he served as Vice President of Finance and eventually became the Corporate Treasurer, shaping his strategic financial acumen.

His experience at General Motors included roles such as Director of Business Development in New York and Regional Treasurer in Zurich, where he honed his expertise in business development and financial management on an international scale.

Parekh’s strong educational background has also played a crucial role in his rise within Apple. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Chicago, one of the world’s top business schools.

This combination of technical and business education has equipped Parekh with a unique perspective that aligns with Apple’s innovative and forward-thinking approach.
