Are its features truly valuable, or are they just nice extras?

We’ll take a closer look to see if the BenQ TK710 4K Projector is worth its price, offering meaningful features or just additional comforts.

BenQ TK710 4K Projector Review: Design and built
The BenQ TK710 sports a sleek white design with a cool blue accent at the front, giving it a modern look. However, from other angles, it appears quite ordinary. Despite this, it stands out as one of the most compact 4K projectors, taking up minimal space in your setup.

Constructed mainly from plastic, the TK710 feels lightweight yet sturdy. The front panel houses the lens on the right and an IR sensor for the remote on the left. Unfortunately, there’s no lens cover, so keeping the lens clean and scratch-free can be a bit of a hassle.

The left area of the front panel and both sides of the projector have large vents for ventilation. This clever design ensures the projector stays cool and operates quietly, even during extended gaming or movie sessions. The fan noise only becomes noticeable when the brightness is at its maximum setting, but it’s still relatively quiet.

At the bottom of the projector, adjustable feet allow you to tilt it upwards. Additionally, there’s an option to mount the projector on the ceiling, providing flexibility in setup.

The rear panel is where you’ll find various connectors and ports. For those who prefer not to use the remote, basic operation buttons are conveniently located on the top. Inside a recessed compartment, you’ll find dials to manually adjust the zoom level and focus.

Physically, the TK710 is compact and light for a 4K projector, weighing just over 3.5 kilos. This makes it easy to carry and set up in different locations.

Overall, the BenQ TK710 is a well-designed, compact projector that remains quiet during most uses, with only a slight increase in fan noise at maximum brightness. Its practical design and easy setup make it a great choice for those looking for a versatile 4K projector.

BenQ TK710 4K Projector Review: Features and Performance
The BenQ TK710 UHD laser projector boasts impressive features designed to deliver exceptional viewing experiences. With a 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), the projector ensures stunning detail and clarity. Its brightness of 3,200 ANSI lumens makes visuals vibrant and striking.

The TK710 is a DLP or Digital Light Processing projector. DLP projectors use a digital micro-mirror device to project images. These projectors are known for their sharp, vibrant visuals and high contrast ratios, making them ideal for both home theatres and business presentations. DLP projectors are generally more compact and lightweight compared to other types, like LCD projectors.

They also offer better motion handling, reducing motion blur in fast-moving scenes. Additionally, DLP projectors are less prone to dust-related issues, ensuring a longer lifespan with minimal maintenance.

The TK710 supports HDR10, enhancing contrast and colour range, and features a 600,000:1 contrast ratio. This high contrast ratio ensures deep blacks and brilliant whites, while the 95 per cent Rec. 709 wide colour gamut guarantees accurate colour reproduction.

The projector’s laser light source is designed to last up to 30,000 hours. BenQ has also included a ±10% vertical lens shift feature, allowing it to project a 150-inch image from just 3.18 meters away.

With a 1.3x zoom ratio, you can easily adjust the image size, and the four-corner correction along with 3D keystone correction ensures a perfectly squared image.

The projector is designed to make setup a breeze with its 4-corner correction and 3D keystone feature. This means you can easily adjust the image to fit your screen perfectly, even if the projector isn’t positioned exactly straight. Say goodbye to distorted pictures and enjoy a clear, sharp display every time.

Gamers will love the ultra-fast 4ms low input lag this projector offers. This feature ensures there’s almost no delay in response, giving you a smooth and quick gaming experience. Whether you’re playing at 1080p with a refresh rate of 240Hz or 120Hz, at 2K with 120Hz, or at 4K with 60Hz, the projector keeps up with the action, providing a seamless and immersive gaming experience.

However, it’s important to note that the two HDMI ports are not HDMI 2.1, so you won’t get the latest VRR and ALLM features for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. There is support for HDMI ARC, which is beneficial for connecting audio devices.

Setting up the BenQ TK710 4K is straightforward, thanks to its keystone correction technology. This feature allows you to place the projector at various angles from the wall and still get a solid, almost perfect display. You can also automatically format the image into a rectangular shape, even if the projector is slightly off-axis.

The projector offers flexibility with screen sizes, accommodating up to a massive 100-inch screen or even larger, thanks to its 1.3x optical zoom.

The BenQ TK710 4K provides six colour modes or presets. While you can adjust these presets, the Movie preset is ideal for watching content, and the Gaming preset is perfect for gaming sessions. Even against a light yellow wall, the presets work well without needing any adjustments.

The LED light source of the projector can produce up to 3,200 ANSI lumens of brightness for about 30,000 hours. This makes it suitable for various lighting conditions and notably brighter than most smart TVs, especially in HDR mode.

In terms of image quality, the BenQ TK710 4K delivers sharp 4K projection with excellent color accuracy and a commendable Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 3,000,000:1. Games like F1 2023, PUBG, and CoD Warzone display great detail, realistic reflections, and shadows.

The TK710 excels in delivering detailed visuals and accurate colors, especially for skin tones. Shadows and dark areas retain impressive detail.

For gaming, setting the projector to 1440p at 120Hz offers a smoother experience with better refresh rates and input lag compared to 4K.

The projector’s built-in 5W speaker is not very powerful, so using a separate sound system is recommended. Fortunately, the TK710 includes an ARC HDMI port, supporting Dolby Atmos for high-quality audio.

External audio connectivity options include two HDMI ports, a VGA port, a USB Type-A port, and a 3.5mm analogue jack, providing ample connection choices for various devices.

BenQ TK710 4K Projector Review: Verdict
While the Rs 3.49 lakh price tag might seem steep, the BenQ TK710 4K is actually a great deal compared to what decent projectors cost just five years ago. With support for up to 4K resolution and refresh rates up to 240Hz (though with some compromises), it offers impressive versatility.

It’s especially ideal for gaming, thanks to its fast refresh modes and low input lag of 4.2ms in some cases. Not only does it perform well against other projectors, but it also competes with some of the best gaming monitors we’ve tested.

The BenQ TK710 4K projector delivers excellent image quality, particularly shining at 1440P with a 120Hz refresh rate. This balance between higher resolution and reduced input lag makes for a fantastic gaming experience. The projector maintains good contrast levels in both SDR and HDR modes, with dynamic LED options enhancing the viewing experience further.

While the lack of an Ethernet port and USB-C connectivity for external SSDs is a bit disappointing, these are minor issues compared to the projector’s overall performance.

Overall, the BenQ TK710 4K projector gets our approval. It’s a solid choice for anyone looking for a high-quality DLP 4K projector, especially if gaming is your primary use.
