The highly anticipated iPhone 16 series is nearing its official launch, with recent leaks shedding light on the expected timeline and pricing for the new models.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the announcement for the 2024 iPhones is likely just around the corner, with the launch event expected to take place in the next couple of weeks. This leak also offers details on when the new devices will hit the market and their potential price points.
iPhones launching on September 10
Bloomberg’s report, citing sources familiar with Apple’s plans, suggests that the iPhone 16 series will be officially launched on September 10. Apple is expected to introduce four new models at this event: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. This launch is anticipated to be Apple’s final major event of the year.
Following Apple’s tradition of swift product rollouts, the new iPhones are expected to be available for purchase shortly after the launch, starting on September 20. This aligns with Apple’s usual strategy of ensuring minimal wait times between product announcements and availability.
Pricing leaked
In addition to the launch dates, pricing details for the iPhone 16 series have also surfaced online. According to information shared by Apple Hub via a post on X (formerly Twitter), the base model of the iPhone 16 is expected to be priced at $799, which is approximately Rs 67,100 in India. The iPhone 16 Plus, with a larger display, might be priced at $899, or roughly Rs 75,500.
For those considering the more premium options, the iPhone 16 Pro is likely to start at $1,099 (around Rs 92,300) for the 256GB variant. The top-tier iPhone 16 Pro Max could begin at $1,199 (approximately Rs 1,00,700) for the same storage capacity. Both the standard and Pro models are anticipated to be available in multiple storage configurations. The standard models are expected to come in 256GB and 512GB options, while the Pro variants might be offered in 512GB and 1TB options.
Prices of Pro devices to go up in India
It is important to note that the prices for these models in India are expected to be significantly higher, as has been the case with previous releases. For context, the iPhone 15 Pro was launched in India at Rs 1,34,900, while the Pro Max started at Rs 1,59,900. The iPhone 15 was priced at Rs 79,900 for the 128GB model, and the Plus version was available at Rs 89,900.
While the standard iPhone 16 models are expected to retain similar price points, the Pro models might see a price increase due to various upgrades. However, these details are yet to be officially confirmed.
